Jasper National Park: Maligne Lake Cruise With Guide

Before you book

  • Meet at the boat dock on Maligne Lake, off Maligne Lake Road, and swap your voucher for a ticket at least 15 minutes before sailing. From Jasper, take Highway 16 east 3 km to the Maligne Lake Road turnoff, then drive 48 km to the lake; the operator's FAQ says to allow 1 to 1.5 hours. Until the end of October 2026, repairs bring single-lane alternating traffic on Maligne Road (Parks Canada).
  • Without a car: Jasper's town transit does not go to Maligne Lake, and the Maligne Adventures shuttle ran from 1 June to 20 September in 2026 (Tourism Jasper's listing). The guided Maligne Valley tours that include this cruise pick up in Jasper. The lake has limited cell service and no Wi-Fi, so download your ticket first. Maligne Canyon, on the same road, is closed for all of 2026, winter included.
  • Walking on Spirit Island is not permitted: the operator's rule, out of respect for Spirit Island's significance to the Stoney Nakoda First Nation. The boat docks nearby and guests walk a short trail to a viewing platform; there is no road or trail to the island itself (Parks Canada).
  • The 2026 season runs to 11 October, 9 am to 4 pm in its last week and weather dependent; Pursuit lists 28 May to 10 October for 2027. Missed cruises are not refunded, and a cruise can run up to 15 minutes long to meet Transport Canada wake rules.
  • Not included: hotel pickup, food and drinks, and the national park pass (CA$12.25 per adult per day in 2026). Strollers, luggage and large bags are not allowed, and the operator does not permit bear spray on cruises. Accessible cruises need 72 hours' notice through its website. Cancellation: the listing records no free cancellation and gives no terms.
